What Kind of Wire to Use?

It is vital for your safety that ONLY Burial Approved wires be used with a dog fence. Since the wire is going to be to the elements, you will want a wire that is going to be durable enough to withstand the abuse. Burial Approved wires are strong and have a long lasting waterproof Polyurethane coat, with a solid copper core.

Use 20-Gauge if:

- Yards with smooth, loose soil, or clay.
- If laying the wire along a fence.
- If the yard has few trees and little vegetation.

Use 18-Gauge if:

- Rocky soil is present.
- If installing the wire above ground.
- If the yard has many trees and much vegetation.
